Team Pain is excited to announce that the City of Casselberry, Florida will officially break ground on the new 40,000 square foot “Wheel Park” on Monday, April 8th at 9:00am!
This innovative project is a dynamic new recreational space designed to cater to all ages and abilities and was one of the 6 parks listed in the City’s bond referendum that was passed by voters in 2020. The new state-of-the-art skate/bike facility aims to enhance and expand recreational opportunities across the city and central Florida. Situated on North Winter Park Drive on a sloped area formerly used for motorcross and dirt vehicles, the park will feature distinct zones to accommodate various interests. The east side will offer a family zone for leisurely enjoyment that includes a “Tiny Town” bike safety training area for children ages 2–5, a skills and pump track for children ages 5–12, a traditional playground with ADA components, and two picnic pavilions. On the west side, thrill-seekers can indulge in the excitement of more challenging elements of the Wheel Park.
Team Pain designed the Skate Park and will also provide construction of the 40,000 square foot Wheel Park. The park will include a 10,000 square foot snake run, complete with bowl corners, hips, and escalators, that starts at 4 feet deep and continues deeper ending at a vert wall reaching a depth of 10 feet. A dedicated intermediate bowl that is 8 feet deep with a center mogul island that includes coping and hips and will cater to riders of varying skill levels and disciplines. The park will also feature a street course spanning over 15,000 square feet, equipped with stair sets, handrails, ledges, and wallrides for enthusiasts to showcase their skills. A separate beginner area will provide young riders with a safe environment to hone their abilities on flat bars, manual pads, pyramid features, with small benches and curbs to grind on. Additionally, the west side will include a formal ceremonial lawn with a pavilion and restroom building, providing a versatile space for events, activities, and contests.
General Contractor, Wharton-Smith, Inc. will be providing construction management for the overall project and they anticipate the entire project being completed by spring 2025!
